A floor-to-ceiling shelf wall in white: open compartments with indirect lighting above a closed base unit with internal drawers.

Every open compartment has its own light strip along the top edge, so the compartments read individually and the wall does not flatten into a single surface. The strips sit in a groove and are invisible from the front. You see the light, not the fitting.
The base unit below is closed and takes whatever is not meant to be on show. Inside, full-extension runners do the work; the fronts are handleless and open on a joint so the calm front is not broken up by hardware.
